The competition is heating up in the life simulation genre, as Paradox Interactive recently revealed Life by You, a new title being developed by Rod Humble, who previously worked on The Sims franchise and Second Life. The game will be available for early access on September 12th for PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Life by You is being developed by a new internal studio called Paradox Tectonic, and it sounds a lot like The Sims in that it allows for a great deal of customization. Players will be able to design the lives of their in-game humans in an open world without loading screens. There are also real language conversations that are generated based on the characters’ unique situation, and users can even craft their own conversations.

The level of customization also extends to creation tools for characters and the world itself, as well as mod support, and Humble commented that the game “allows for unparalleled levels of storytelling.” Players will be able to get an early glimpse of the game and its tools in the gallery below.

The early access period will be a shared experience, with the community’s feedback influencing the game’s development and content. It looks like The Sims is getting some stiff competition, and it will be interesting to see how Life by You fares when it comes out.
